Books by Kenny Bass

Three books. Three distinct forms.

If Not for the Blast is a deliberately compressed memoir; A Marine’s Disposable War is an artist photobook drawn from the Iraq archive; and Atlas & Friends is a children’s story about working dogs, disability, empathy, and respect.

All three remain unpublished. No publication date has been announced.

The mercifully short memoir

If Not for the Blast

This is not simply a compressed memoir. It is a memoir about compression.

War, invisible injury, identity, Atlas, fatherhood, service, and the unexpected life built from circumstances Kenny never would have chosen.

A Marine’s Disposable War — Photobook

Accepted digital book; hardcover in preparation

Fifteen photographs from one disposable camera Kenny carried as a young Marine infantryman in Iraq in 2003. The sequence became a completed digital book more than two decades later.

An 11 × 8.5-inch landscape hardcover is being prepared for proofing and a first small print run. No publication or shipping date is set.

A children’s book

Atlas & Friends

Helping children understand working dogs—and the people beside them.

A warm school-assembly story about service dogs, guide dogs, therapy dogs, working K-9s, emotional-support animals, and pets—built around empathy, respect, and clear distinctions.
