Kenny Bass / Creative Strategist & Builder

Different forms. A shared purpose.

I turn overlooked possibilities into work people can use: a veterans’ nonprofit, photographs from Iraq, accessible experiences and websites built around real needs.

Selected work

Not just what I make. Why I make it.

Three projects shaped by service, storytelling and access.

01 / Service, access and organization-building

Helping build a mission that could serve others.

Trained service dogs helped me reclaim parts of daily life. I helped establish The Battle Buddy Foundation so other veterans could find that support.

The barrier
Service-dog support was difficult and costly to obtain.
The decision
Build an organization with other veterans and people who could carry the mission forward.
What exists
An established veterans nonprofit with documented service-dog placements, advocacy and public education.
How the Foundation took shape

That required more than an idea: developing an organization, earning public trust, communicating the mission, building relationships and working with people who could help carry it forward. This was shared work, built and sustained by a larger team.

02 / Photography, storytelling and preservation

From a box of photographs to the historical record.

Photographs from a disposable camera used in Iraq in 2003 sat largely unseen for more than two decades. In 2026, I began developing that record into A Marine’s Disposable War.

My photograph Spent earned Bronze in Photojournalism / Conflict at the 2026 Analog Sparks International Film Photography Awards.

Spent was also selected for Chasing Ghosts 10, a 2026 juried virtual exhibition presented by Verum Ultimum Art Gallery.

The constraint
A small photographic record, with gaps a photograph alone cannot explain.
The decision
Sequence the work, document its credits and offer description, context and recollection alongside it.
What exists
Fifteen publicly presented works, credited to their respective photographers; a digital photobook; an accessible companion; and an interactive exhibition.
From photographs to an accessible archive

I sequenced the fifteen-photograph project and developed visual descriptions, historical context and individual photographer credits. The work also required archival research, rights documentation, exhibition planning and carefully tailored institutional outreach.

Discussions about exhibitions and possible long-term preservation are ongoing.

03 / Digital experiences · KennyBass.com

One practice. Many ways in.

I built KennyBass.com to connect photography, speaking, books and digital work, with more than one way to explore.

KennyBass.com received CSS Design Awards Special Kudos in October 2026, with separate recognition in its public UI, UX and Innovation categories.

The challenge
Give photography, speaking, books and digital work one clear home.
The decisions
Lead with real work, simplify navigation and offer accessible ways to explore.
My role
Product direction, content structure, visual identity and hands-on review of the build.
Implemented result
A live site joining photography, an interactive camera, an accessible archive and clear inquiry paths.
How I developed the website

My work combined product direction, information architecture, experience design and creative direction. I defined what the site needed to do and organized its content. I shaped the visual identity, interactions and paths through the work.

AI-assisted development supported the build while I reviewed the results and directed revisions. Accessibility checks, visual reviews and automated testing helped refine the experience.

I also build private websites and digital prototypes around real needs, bringing purpose, content, design and interactions together. Projects are at different stages and are shared only with permission.

Discuss a website or digital project

How I work

Different disciplines. A consistent approach.

I don’t begin by deciding what to sell someone. I begin by understanding what would actually help—and then figuring out which skills, tools and people are needed to create it.

  1. 01

    Recognize potential

Find the overlooked value, unmet need or worthwhile possibility.

  2. 02

    Understand the barrier

Listen, research, clarify the audience and establish what must change.

  3. 03

    Build the response

Create the story, experience, system or organization the opportunity calls for.

  4. 04

    Verify and share

Test the result, correct what fails and leave a usable path for others.

Have something worth building?

Whether it begins with an archive, an organization, a business challenge or a digital experience, the first question is what needs to become possible.
