One limited viewpoint, kept intact.

Kenny Bass carried the camera as a young Marine infantryman in Iraq in 2003. The sequence moves through murals, work sites, improvised vehicles, resting Marines, weapons, industrial structures, damaged machinery and material left after use.

The archive does not claim to summarize the war or replace Iraqi accounts. It preserves this body of work, its makers and its remaining uncertainty while giving every photograph a durable public address.
